She knew I wasn’t happy. All she ever wanted was for me to be happy. She said, “I don’t want to hold you back. I want the very best for you.” She added, “you’ll know how much I love you when you have a child of your own one day.” I held myself back, I made the choice when she fell to pick up her cross and help her as much as I could. Not for any other reason than because of love. 

We all make our own decisions. I chose to live at home and be a care giver for my sick mom. While friends, got their MBA’s, bought houses, got married and had kids… I knew I was making decisions to give care & support for the two women that meant so much (my mom & grandma). They both passed but I wouldn’t have changed it for the world because I wouldn’t be the man I am without her. 

I hope when you hear God’s call you are strong enough to answer it in your life because what I’ve learned is there is nothing more important that faith. Family, friends, things will all take there cycle. Faith is the only it you can take with you. 

Why is faith important? First, it keeps you grounded in humility. For example, I had a life coaching session with a gal this morning. She was just let go from her work. Now she was living at home sampling new careerendeavorers. I nudged her to recognize she gets to “sample.” Most would have to make a decision to do a job that puts food on the table and a roof over their head. Secondly, it helps guide us towards our true authentic selves. When we are born, we are so innocent and true. As we grow older, our faith in God reminds us how to find that happiness we seek. For example, when our faith is so strong we can almost feel God tugging our shirt to guide us towards happiness. I was ready to quit, I knew my back was against the wall and God found a way to answer my prayers. 

Pray. And then, keep praying. He will answer you when you are ready. There are days I pray and it feels like there wasn’t a whole lot there. But when you get so true to yourself, He knows. When you get real, so does He. However, you have to get silent in order to listen. He speaks through the wind.
